Lazy Kief Infused Brownies
by Rachel Hantula, customer experience director
Quick Answer: Kief brownies are easy cannabis edibles made by mixing 1 gram of kief directly into boxed brownie mix — no decarbing needed! The long bake time activates some THCa into THC, creating a mellow, full-spectrum effect. For stronger, more THC-forward results, decarb your kief at 245°F for 20 minutes before adding it to the batter.
We’re very excited to share our smash hit, super easy to make recipe with you all!
What makes it easy?! It is that we are going to be a bit lazy 😉
We’ll explain this in further detail below our delightfully fun, simple, stoner-proof recipe curated for stoners by stoners!
For this recipe, you will need a few simple ingredients:
1 gram of kief,
1 boxed brownie mix,
Whatever other ingredients are listed on your brownie mix packaging, ours calls for eggs, water and oil
Instructions:
Preheat oven according to whatever brownie mix you have chosen instructs
To make sure the kief is properly infused throughout the brownie mix, it is important to mix the dry ingredients first.
Grab a bowl, empty the contents of the boxed mix in, and sprinkle the kief evenly throughout the top of the mix.
Then, take a spoon and stir rapidly for a minute or so to make sure the kief is evenly distributed throughout the mix.
Next, Mix Your Wet Ingredients Into The Dry
Mix in the oil, water and egg until the batter looks fully mixed.
Meanwhile, lightly grease your brownie pan, and add the batter.
Once the oven is preheated, pop it in, and set a timer for however long your specific chosen brownie mix dictates. Most receipes for brownies list 40-55 minute bake times.
Once the timer goes off, check to make sure the edges of the brownies have separated from the pan.
How Much THC Is In Each Kief Brownie?
The answer to this question is actually a bit more complicated than one might originally assume! I am so glad you asked 😄
Let’s say the kief we used in this recipe (made by American Hash Makers) lists its THCa potency as 50% (50mg) and say 2% THC (2mg), we typically would be able to calculate the estimated THCa (non intoxicating alone) that converts to fully activated THC (intoxicating) using this equation:
THC = [(THCa concentration x 0.877) + THC concentration]
So for our above example,
THC% = (50mg THCa) x 0.877 + 2mg THC
THC = 45.85 mg THC
This is in a perfect world, which this recipe is not, for we are choosing to be lazy stoners!
Since we are not activating our kief prior to incorporating it into the brownie mix, the THCa will not activate at the same rate one might expect based off the above equation, it is likely much lower, but this actually makes for an incredibly rich, intensely relieving therapeutic, and blissful experience.
This is due to the entourage effect, which harnesses the power of all the molecules present in live cannabis flower (including THCa)!
All these molecules (cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids) work together to create the overall experience, including nice balanced ratios of one cannabinoid to another (like THca and THC or THC and CBD etc)
It’s hard to estimate at what rate the THCa will convert during the baking process, THCa typically starts to decarboxylate at around 220 degrees. Throwing brownies with kief in the oven for almost an hour is likely to activate a fair amount!
We have shared this recipe with friends and family alike and it can provide an incredibly fun and stoney experience, even when the THCa in the kief has not completely activated. Give it a try for yourself!
BUT WAIT?!
Are you a perfectionist?
A completionist?
or perhaps someone who just wants that straight to the dome, THC rich experience?!?!
We can provide you with the easy steps to get you there as well with infused kief brownies. To get a more pure THC, less full spectrum experience, simply decarb your kief FIRST before introducing it to your brownie recipe!
How to Decarb Kief:
Preheat oven to 245-250 degrees
Get a baking dish and line with foil
Spread kief evenly over baking sheet/dish
Cover top of baking dish with foil
Once preheated, bake kief for around 20 minutes.
TA DA!
Activated kief!!! Simply combine this activated kief with the dry ingredients listed in the first step of this recipe.
Important note: any baked goods besides brownies will likely need kief to be activated prior to introducing it to a recipe. Brownies have a longer bake time than say a cookie and will more thoroughly complete the THCa activation process.
Ultimately, you should experiment, play, and have fun!
That’s what cannabis is all about.

FAQ Lazy Kief Infused Brownies
Do you have to decarb kief before making brownies?
Not necessarily — and that's what makes this recipe so fun! Because brownies bake at a relatively high temperature for 40–55 minutes, a good portion of the THCa in your kief will naturally convert to THC during baking. Skip the decarb for a mellow, full-spectrum experience, or decarb first at 245–250°F for 20 minutes if you want a stronger, more THC-forward effect.
What does kief do in brownies — will they actually get you high?
Yes! Kief is the concentrated collection of cannabis trichomes, making it significantly more potent than regular flower. Even without full decarboxylation, the combination of active THC, partially activated THCa, and other cannabinoids and terpenes creates what's known as the entourage effect — a rich, blissful, full-body experience that many people love.
How much kief should I use for a batch of brownies?
This recipe uses 1 gram of kief for one standard box of brownie mix, which yields a moderate experience for most people. The exact potency per brownie depends on the THCa percentage of your kief and how many pieces you cut from the batch. Start low, go slow — especially if it's your first time making edibles!
How do I make sure the kief is evenly distributed in my brownies?
Great question — this is the most important step! Always mix your kief into the dry brownie mix first, stirring rapidly for a full minute before adding any wet ingredients. This ensures every bite has an even dose rather than hot spots of concentrated kief. Don't skip this step!
Can I use any boxed brownie mix for this recipe? Yep, any standard boxed brownie mix works! Just follow the package instructions for eggs, oil, and water alongside the kief. The longer the bake time listed on the box, the more THCa activation you'll get. Brownies with a 40–55 minute bake time are ideal for this lazy method.
Why use kief instead of cannabutter or cannabis oil for edibles?
Kief is a fantastic shortcut! Making cannabutter or cannabis oil can take hours, while kief can go straight into your recipe with zero prep. It's potent, easy to measure, and blends seamlessly into dry ingredients. If you're new to making edibles at home, kief brownies are honestly one of the best places to start.
