What is DOH Compliant Cannabis, and Where Can I Buy It?
by Christine Bryant Darling, marketing and creative director
Beginning June 6, 2024, at Hashtag Everett, we are delighted to sell medical patients DOH-compliant cannabis products, free of excise (37%) tax, in addition to the sales (approximately 10%) tax exemption they receive on purchases of any cannabis products at a medically endorsed store.
What does “DOH compliant” mean?
All DOH compliant cannabis products meet or exceed the Washington Department of Health’s requirements for medical-grade cannabis. These requirements include more stringent testing of pesticide levels, in addition to heavy metal testing and mycotoxin screening. These products, in short, undergo extra testing.
Who can purchase DOH compliant cannabis?
Any person over 21 can purchase general-use and high-CBD DOH compliant cannabis. Only medical patients will receive excise and sales tax exemptions when buying DOH compliant products.

How do I get a medical card?
First, talk to your physician to determine your eligibility for becoming a medical patient. If you receive an authorization form, then schedule an appointment with our medical cannabis consultant to be added to the state database and create your medical card here.
What do you get with a medical card?
On the purchase of DOH compliant cannabis, medical patients pay no excise (37%) or sales (about 10%) taxes. Medical patients pay no sales tax on the purchase of any cannabis that we sell. The excise tax exemption applies only to DOH compliant cannabis.
In addition, medical patients can buy up to three times more product in one transaction than a recreational guest.
Will medical cannabis consultants give medical advice?
No. We are not doctors or pharmacists, but we can recommend products that fit your requests.
