So… “Sustainably Sun Grown” sounds great? But what does that actually mean?

Allow me to break it down for you!

Sun grown cannabis is very simply put, grown under the sun!

All plants need a myriad of things to fuel their growth and vitality: light, water and nutrients! These are all readily available in the outdoors, naturally, allowing cannabis to thrive, growing indigenously all across across the globe.

FUN FACT: Up until the last few decades, cannabis was exclusively grown outdoors!

What are some of the benefits of sun grown cannabis?

Sustainability!

Due to utilizing the plants’ own surrounding environment, there is no need for either artificial, high intensity lighting systems or power draining ventilation systems.

It has been argued growing cannabis inside can even be of benefit to its immediate surrounding environment. Cannabis growing outdoor can naturally integrate themselves into the local ecosystem in which they grow, benefiting the local ecology!

So which is better? Sun Grown or Indoor?!

Excellent question! The answer isn’t straight forward-

It really depends the most on your own specific preferences!

Sun grown flower has been known to showcase quite full-bodied cannabinoid and terpene profiles, owing to the full spectrum sunlight and natural environmental aids.

Cannabinoids and terpenes are suspected to act as natural pest deterrents, so it is no surprise cannabis grown outdoors would produce these in more robust ratios than some indoor cannabis.

That being said, you may be more likely to see consistent results from indoor grown cannabis as the environment in which it is cultivated is highly regulated. Some individuals prefer indoor grown cannabis because indoor producers are able to produce more consistently year round where as outdoor operations are limited by the sun the number of harvests they are able to achieve annually.

What are High Five Farms specific sun grown practices?

High Five Farms produces both full term sun grown cannabis and light dep/green house grown cannabis!

Full term, sun grown cananbis is grown completely exposed to the elements, in wide open fields. Light dep stands for light deprivation. Plants grown in green houses and hoop houses/tents allow for plants to be grown with supplemental lighting in addition to the sun in an enclosed environment. Within these enclosed environments, producers will reduce the daily amount of light plants receive, tricking the plants into thinking fall has come early, and in turn getting the plant to flower!

These structures allow for more control over the environments while still harnessing the power of the sun. The light deprivation tech allows for this style of sun grown cannabis to be produced in a faster time frame than full term sun grown cannabis.

Hashtag’s Recommendations:

For the laid back consumer looking for chill vibes with electrifying mood enhancement, we suggest trying…

Cookie Monster Mango Haze

Weed Maps describes this strain as such:

“High Five Farms blends Cookie Monster x Mango Haze to create this delightfully balanced Hybrid bud. Ripe with sugary-sweet citrus, pine and menthol-fresh flavors, this unique blend is quite unlike any cultivar you've experienced. Cookie Monster x Mango Haze banishes bad moods from the mind, while its mildly energizing yet relaxing physical effects vanish pain and aches from the body”

For a more experienced consumer looking for powerful effects, we suggest trying…

Ghost Train Haze (Available in Hash)

High Five Farms has this to say about this strain offering of theirs:

“Ghost Train Haze is one of the most intense strains that has ever been introduced to the marijuana universe. This strain is not for the novice Toker; after all, Ghost Train Haze was named the “Most Potent Strain on earth” by High Times magazine in 2012. This strain derives from Ghost OG & Neville’s wreck, creating an insane 27% THC level. GTH is mainly sativa (80:20 sativa/indica ratio), so if you are a novice smoker or suffer from anxiety, it is best that you steer clear of this wicked strain. Heavy smoking of GTH can lead to an almost psychedelic feel that may induce paranoia. The patients who tend to opt for Ghost Train Haze are those who suffer from depression or those who are looking for an overall great time. If taken in small doses, GTH can easily send you into laughing fits and stimulate your creative mind. The aroma of this strain is a sweet blend of sour, citrus & pine that is very pungent. With an abundance of trichomes and hairs, GTH basically looks as dank as it claims to be”
