Thanksgiving Shoppers: Microdosers vs. BLAZERS
By Shannon Dessi, Hashtag Seattle assistant store manager
The long Thanksgiving weekend is nearly here. But … what if you just aren’t sure how to dose yourself with THC to achieve the intoxicating experience you desire?
You aren’t alone. All of our bodies are different! And there’s no set standard to getting high on cannabis.
For some people, imbibing an edible or smoking flower with a high-CBD ratio of 5 parts CBD to 1 part THC sends them to another planet.
For other people, they don’t feel it whatsoever.
Finding out what dosage works for you has a lot to do with listening to your body. It can take a few different experiences before you can lock in your ideal dosage, so be patient and go easy on yourself in the THC department.
Trust me, you don’t want your THC tolerance to rise any quicker than it has to!
Microdosers
Microdosing is a really great option for folx that are new to edibles or know that they have a low tolerance for THC in edible form. Microdosing is also good for extending your high longer by building upon it. Edibles take 1-3 hours to take effect, so I don’t recommend taking an additional dose until you’ve waited at least 2 hours and are still not feeling the high.
Edibles
The next level I would bump up to is the Mr. Moxey’s Mints in either the 1:1 CBD:THC variety or just the THC variety if you’re not interested in the CBD. These guys come in at 5mg THC per mint, or 5mg:5mg CBD:THC, if you opt for that.
I would recommend starting your microdosing journey with something like the SPOT Chocolates ..or Fruit Chews in the Levity Blend variety (Black and green box). These have 10mg of CBD and 3mg of THC. The average person starts to feel the effects of THC at around 2.5mg, so taking 3mg of THC paired with a nice dose of CBD feels safe to me.
Vapor
With this inhalation method you get much more control over which type of high you experience, depending on the strain you choose in your Pax Pod. The Pax Pod is the cannabis oil cartridge that goes into the Pa Era and Pax Era Pro batteries. I would recommend starting with a hybrid strain to start, as you get comfortable with how the different strains affect you.
Another plus to purchasing Pax, this holiday season, all Pax Pod are 30% off, and you can buy a Pax Era or Era Pro battery at $10 off, too! The sale ends November 30. Did I mention they have an awesome app on GooglePlay where you can customize your vaping sessions by potency, duration, and temperature.
Shop Pax Pods at Hashtag Seattle here and the Redmond shop here!
Blazers
Okay, blazers. How do you consume high amounts of THC this holiday season?
The options are actually pretty open.
Flower
If you’re going for volume when it comes to flower, I would pick up an ounce so you don’t run out - it is the season of giving so hopefully you’re sharing the love with your 21+ year old friends.
My favorite ounces are from Sweetwater Farms or Fire Bros. If you’re interested in treating yourself to something decadent, Emerald Janes or Lazy Bee Garden’s for a mid-range price, and Green Barn Farms for if you’re on a budget!
All great options. It’s also definitely worth asking your budtender what their favorite is right now, because our stock is ever changing!
Beverages
Another great discreet option would be our new Mobius drinks. They have options that are 100mg for just $19 dollars! They are great for mixing with other juices or sodas, depending on the flavor. I always like to go with a 1:1 ratio drink because for some reason I feel the drinks very heavily on my body and the CBD helps me from going overboard.
Dabbing Concentrates
Another recommendation I would make for someone who is more experienced, is to try out concentrates and explore the realm of dabbing. Since the oil is so highly concentrated, you get much higher much quicker than smoking flower.
If you don’t have a dab rig set up or e-nail (we have both for sale at Hashtag), you might think about picking up a Pax 3. This vaporizing battery has different chambers to be used for flower and dabbing (not at the same time). For the Pax 3, I recommend using a concentrate that is more crumble-y or crystal-like because it will be easier to drop into the oil chamber. Remember the thing about dabbing: just a dab'll do ya! A little goes a long way here.
