Who is Pot of Gold?

Pot of Gold is a tier 1 microfarm operating in Tacoma, Washington. Pot of Gold is known by Hashtag’s staff for producing exceptionally high grade cannabis and is a favorite among our budtenders.

The Pot of Gold team is small, but oh so mighty. They’re a passionate group, pouring lots of love into their craft, whether it be in the garden, at the trim tables, or in the packaging room.

Week after week, Pot of Gold remains in our top selling flower products for very good reason.

Why do we tour?

Aside from the killer sensory experience it provides for our staff (the smells, oh god, the smells!) ….

Hashtag is committed

To providing products to our guests that meet our scrupulous standards. We actually spend countless hours vetting every product that we sell in a rigorous selection process we call Hashtag Certified.

Through this process, we ensure that we only do business with the most reputable companies in the industry and only carry products that meet the highest possible safety standards -- so whenever you buy a product at Hashtag, you know it's going to be the cleanest, safest and best cannabis product your money can buy.

By this same note, you can bet that we do supply our budtenders with a vast tool belt of resources to keep them up to date and educated on our partners, their products and processes. Having an informed, educated and Hashtag Certified staff allows us to pass along knowledge to our guests so they can make informed buying decisions.

It allows our staff to better hone in on the needs of our guests and what product may truly be best for them as an individual. Touring facilities are just one of many avenues we take to educate and inform our team!

Touring also provides us a unique opportunity to immerse ourselves in the culture and processes of one of our partners. We take great pride in curating and maintaining personal relationships with the partners we work with, Pot of Gold being no exception.

This opens up communications and transparency, and we are able to work together to provide the greater public with a truly exceptional product.

Pot of Gold is always seeking feedback from our staff on their latest drops of flower: “How have budtenders been liking the new strains? How have guests been responding?”

Pot of Gold is dedicated to learning and improving always, which is obvious from the product they produce. Each batch looks, smells and hits harder than the last.

What did we learn at Pot of Gold?

Jon Rothenberg, Pot of Gold’s owner, and some members of their tight-knit team showed us around, letting us follow the life cycle of the plant and the steps involved in producing the ridiculously beautiful frosty buds they bring to us at Hashtag.

Starting with the Moms!

Pot of Gold cares for some big, leafy ladies that ultimately provide cuttings or clippings for all of the cannabis they grow in one of two of their grow rooms.

Time to grow roots!

They snip a piece of the living plant off and allow it to grow roots

Entering the vegetative phase!

The newly rooted out plants are transferred into a pot for it to grow all on its own. This process is called cloning, which can also be performed on different kinds of houseplants!  Any clone will be genetically identical to the plant it was clipped/cut from. A clone is in the very beginning of the plant’s vegetative growth phase. This means the plant grows only stems and leaves (not flowers or “buds”) and focuses all its energy on growing big and strong. At this point, the recently formed roots are expanding into their growing medium

Entering the flower phase!

Once the plant has grown big and strong in its vegetative state, she’ll get flipped to flower. This is done by changing up the light cycles for the plants, which will trigger flowering. This is the final stage of growth for the cannabis plant, when it starts to develop those gorgeous, resinous, sticky icky buds.

What about pesticides?

But how does Pot of Gold protect their pristine product from unwanted, damaging pests? Pot of Gold chooses to avoid the use of harsh chemical pesticides. They utilize a variety of natural mechanisms to keep their garden safe. They use assassin bugs, green lacewings, nematodes, essential oils, and some predacious beneficial fungal spores.

When the ladies are ready, they’ll be harvested, dried/cured, trimmed and packaged up with the utmost care to be sent off to retailer’s shelves. The end product is always a shining example of what cannabis should be. Their flower always looks virtually untouched by human hands, with glistening trichome heads, fully intact, unruptured and full of all the juicy terpy goodness we love from cannabis.

Keep an eye out for the latest batches coming, Pot of Gold promises to be the best weed they’ve grown to date. We got a sneak peek and the flower is looking exceptionally glorious, better than we’ve ever seen!

Curious about what to try?

Check out some budtender favorites!

Pot of Golds half ounce B-Buds and quarter ounce Trim-Your-Own flower! These products from Pot of Gold carry some of the most value you can find in Washington’s recreational market. In terms of the quality being provided for the price point, you will be hard pressed to find anything that quite compares in value. Their B-Buds and Trim-Your-Own flower are G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S and incredibly frosty. The B-buds are just a bit smaller and lightly trimmed compared to Pot of Gold’s A buds. The Trim-Your-Own buds are still thick, chunky nugs, they just come with more of their sugar leaves still attached.

Strains to try:

Platinum OG- One of Pot of Gold’s Platinum Kush Breath Remix phenotypes reigns supreme over the stoniest of stoney highs. Slow down time and space. Let your body melt and meld into your surrounding environment.

Crumpets- Sail through your day like a sheet to the wind with easy-going upliftment. Don’t underestimate this gorgeous specimen though, the more you smoke the easier it becomes to detach and float away.

Visit us at either our Seattle or Redmond location today and see for yourself what the love we have for Pot of Gold is all about!
