Whoa, what a first Presidential Debate, eh? Let me just say, it took A LOT of weed and deep breaths for me to successfully watch the first debate in its entirety.

I wonder how many other people across the United States turned to their wine cellar, beer fridge, bar cart, or cannabis stash while simultaneously thinking, “What the hell … ” My guess is, most of us!

With such intense energy surrounding the 2020 presidential election, cannabis is the perfect companion to keep you sane. If you are feeling like I am -- anxious, angry and confused -- let cannabis take the reins next time around, and I promise these debates will be a little more tolerable to digest.

Three Favorite Strains to Keep You Sane Through Election Day

To prepare for the possible, final presidential debate, I came up with a list of my absolute favorite cannabis strains to keep me calm, cool and collected. So grab your favorite toking device, and let's get ready for the show!

As Introductions Begin: Blueberry Margarita by Saints

Blueberry Margaritas from Saints.

During the debate introductions, I turn to Blueberry Margarita flower from Saints.  This strain is truly positive vibes in a jar. It is an upbeat, euphoric, and, more importantly, a functional hybrid that is perfect for easing your mind (and spirit) into the circus you are about to observe.

I find it is best to start watching the debates feeling stoned yet alert. It is important to be engaged while minimizing the anxiety of what is to come for the evening. Blueberry Margarita helps me to find a little more humor out of such an intense evening, guiding me through with ease, and maybe even a few giggles.

During the Heated Arguments: Gilda by Raven Grass

When things really get going, I grab my grinder and turn to some flower with a higher CBD content -- the best way to get your pounding heart and nerves under control. Raven Grass’s Gilda is a great choice. This low THC, high CBD flower works well to minimize the creeping anxious feeling we all get as the arguments intensify. Smoking Gilda, for me, is like having a fluffy, warm blanket wrapped around you that says, “Don’t worry, it will all be okay, my dear.”

I also find that smoking some high CBD flower mid-debate helps to keep my mind sharp and not too stoney. That way, I can focus on the issues being discussed, something that has been hard to achieve previously ... sober or not.

Before the Post-Debate Coverage: Obama Kush by Bondi Farms

As discussions wrap up, and my nerves and mind feel like mush from all the craziness and misinformation I just heard, I find that a giant bowl of Obama Kush from Bondi Farms is the best way to rest and reset.

It is imperative that we allow ourselves to decompress after each debate, and Obama Kush will gladly take your hand. For me, this Bondi Farms strain is the much-needed calming, full body high that is ideal for unwinding and relaxing post-debate.

Switch yourself into rest mode, turn off your mind, and allow yourself to sit calmly before turning to any social media or news outlets for the recap. It may take a few bowls of this beautiful bud to unravel your racing mind from these debates, but I promise, it will surely do the trick.

Stay Ready for November 3, 2020

There is a strong possibility that there will be no final Presidential Debate, but whether there’s another debate to watch or not, these cannabis strains are still the perfect choices to keep you motivated, focused, and relaxed as November quickly approaches.
