Please, Brown Bear Car Wash, save our jobs at Hashtag Redmond!

You may not be aware that Hashtag’s owners have been hard at work finding a new, bigger, and better location in Redmond for our store that will have triple the floor space, dedicated parking, and even a hemp-CBD shop next door. Although they have succeeded in securing a new location for us, after eight months of searching hundreds of properties, the lease for this new location does not permit us to move in before April 2020.

Meanwhile, the property we lease today was sold to Brown Bear Car Wash, who became our new landlords on Avondale Way NE and exercised their right to terminate our lease on January 31, 2020.

And with no retail space to operate Hashtag Redmond in the months of February and March, despite our best efforts, we may be forced to close for two months, and with extreme heartbreak, to lay off our beloved 13 employees.

M.A.C. Attack! Hashtag’s Review of an Instant Classic

Cannabis is an incredibly diverse plant. Just like the hops we find in beer or the grapes we use to make wine, the very environment in which a cannabis plant is grown can (and often does) play a determining role in the traits that the plant ultimately displays.

When the same strain (also known as a cultivar, genotype, or chemovar) of a cannabis plant is grown under different conditions, different genes get expressed. As a result, different varieties of the exact same strain, known as phenotypes, emerge.

Take a strain like Miracle Alien Cookies (commonly known as M.A.C.), for example. When M.A.C. is grown in an indoor garden, the flavors, potency and effects of the flower that plant grows will be strikingly different than a M.A.C. grown in an outdoor garden, even though their genes are exactly the same.

But hold on. Just how big of a difference do growing conditions really make?

To answer that question, we took a deep dive into the world of cannabis cultivation. Our top-notch budtenders have sniffed, smoked and scribbled down their experiences with M.A.C. in pain-staking detail to share with you. And were we surprised with the results!

Cannabis Topicals 101

Winter is almost here, folks. Short, chilly days and long, cold nights will once again become the norm in the Pacific Northwest. But along with the quiet beauty that winter yields, so too come the return of familiar aches and pains of old injuries and weary joints. And though many of us are prepared to face looming end-of-the-year-deadlines, the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping, and long-distance travel plans, the search for relief to these same old aches and pains can seem endlessly complex.

You might have even asked yourself: Is there something, anything, that can help ease the discomfort of the winter season?
