Hashtag's Statement on DDE Contamination in Okanogan County
by Christine Bryant Cohen, marketing and creative director
The Washington State Liquor Cannabis Control Board (LCB) Enforcement and Education staff have identified a pattern of pesticide testing failures that point to product contamination (in both cannabis & other agricultural products) in a specific region of Okanogan County, with detectable levels of dichlorodiphenyldichloroethylene (DDE) exceeding action levels in many products.
We want to assure you that we are taking this issue seriously and have been in contact with our partners to investigate whether any of our products are affected. As of now, we have not received any reports of contamination from our partners, but we are continuing to monitor the situation closely.
It is unclear what type of health risk DDE actually poses at the levels detected, but the LCB is in the process of consulting with scientific experts to provide us with a science-based risk assessment as soon as possible.
